Mind and Soul TherapiesMind or psychological therapies enable people to explore, discuss and work through any issues that are contributing to a lack of emotional or spiritual well-being. The links between our mind and our physical body mean that working on the health of the mind,
can lead to an improvement in our physical health and our general sense of well-being.

Person-centred counselling is to do with creating an environment of honesty, respect and empathy where you are more likely to feel able to explore issues and where it also feels comfortable to say “This is something I’m not ready for”. Rather than advising or telling you what to do, as a person-centred counsellor I work to enable you to listen to yourself, the best expert on you, and make your own choices. This means effort on your part as you take an active and equal role in the relationship rather than responding to questions and listening to diagnosis and instructions. Person-centred counselling is seen as successful when you have gained in understanding and acceptance of your self and your feelings and feel differently about your self and your situation; positive change has then taken place. You will feel empowered and able to voice feelings and thoughts outside of the counselling sessions in the way you have within the sessions. The way you go about your personal and working life may be quite different because of this but it might also be that there is no major outward change and no firm decision about taking a particular course of action, the change being in how you feel about and deal with the people and situations that are an established part of your working or home life.
Christine has indemnity insurance, is registered with the Data Protection Agency and is a member of the following organisations:
The Association for Humanistic Psychology The British Association for the Person Centred Approach The World Association for Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy and Counselling The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) The British Society for Clinical and Academic Hypnosis
Sessions, of 60 minutes duration, cost £40 for individuals or couples. There are no upper or lower limits to the number of sessions, although a counselling relationship benefits from having time to develop. One session per week gives time for reflection between sessions whilst also providing continuity. The first session will take longer than 60 minutes (at no further cost) so that there is opportunity for further discussion and a simple contract can be explained and signed, this addresses issues of confidentiality and record keeping. Home visits are available for those who prefer them or find travel or using stairs difficult
